Dubuque County Divorce Records
A divorce, also called a dissolution of marriage, in Dubuque County, is the legal process of ending a marriage. The Dubuque County District Court has exclusive jurisdiction over divorce cases, as the county has no dedicated family court.
Divorce records are open records under the Iowa Public Records Act, so anyone can inspect a concluded divorce case unless the record is sealed. A divorce record is sealed and confidential while the case is ongoing and may only be accessed by the spouses, their attorneys, and the court (Iowa Code § 598.26).
Members of the public can search a person's name on the Iowa Electronic Court Docket portal or walk into the Clerk of Court's Office to inspect a divorce record.
